The light is beginning to change. Sunrise is coming later. There is a chill in the evening air. All announcing the end of summer and the start of autumn. We are harvesting delightfully sweet figs and passion fruit, shiny swollen aubergines, green beans and cherry tomatoes. It’s time for making passata and pesto for the freezer, so that when winter comes we can remind ourselves of the flavours of summer. Now is the time to plant peas, onions, garlic, broccoli and cauliflower and to be cutting back the plants that are coming to the end of their summer flowering.
A time for renewal.
